Wedding RSVP Wording Examples for Every Style
Copy formal, casual, digital and QR-code RSVP wording, plus the yes/no lines guests actually see on a The Wedy invitation.
Guests need a date, a place to reply, and two clear answers
RSVP wording fails in two ways. It is either so formal that guests cannot tell what to do, or so casual that “maybe” feels like a valid answer. The job is simpler than it looks: tell people how to reply, give a real deadline, and make yes and no unmistakable.
Copy the lines that match the invitation you are sending. Formal paper still works with a digital reply. A relaxed Saturday lunch can use warmer language without losing the date. Keep the tone of the invitation and the firmness of a form.
What every RSVP line must say
Whatever the style, the wording has to cover four facts:
- How to reply — a link, a QR code, or both
- When to reply — a calendar date, not “as soon as you can”
- Who is invited — named guests, not an open number
- How to answer — one yes and one no, with no maybe
If any of those is missing, you will spend the next month translating messages. The examples below keep all four, then change only the tone.

Formal RSVP wording
Use this when the invitation is third person, the date is written out, and guests expect black tie or a church ceremony. Keep contractions out of the invitation line. The form can stay plain.
The favour of a reply is requested by the tenth of June. Please respond at thewedy.com/i/your-link
Put the written date on the invitation. Keep the same date in the RSVP settings so the form can say “Please respond before 10 June”.
Kindly respond by 10 June at the invitation link enclosed.
Shorter, still formal. Useful when the URL is on a separate card or shown as a QR code.
Joyfully accepts / Regretfully declines
Classic paper answers. On a digital form, the same idea reads as “Yes, I will attend” and “I cannot attend”.
Formal lines that still work online
| Comparison | On the invitation | On the form |
|---|---|---|
| Ask | The favour of a reply is requested | Will you attend? |
| Yes | Accepts with pleasure | Yes, I will attend |
| No | Declines with regret | I cannot attend |
| Deadline | Kindly respond by 10 June | Please respond before 10 June |
Casual and modern wording
Casual is not vague. You can sound like yourselves and still give a date. Avoid slang that older guests will have to decode, and do not hide the deadline inside a joke.
We would love to celebrate with you. Please RSVP by 10 June at thewedy.com/i/your-link
Warm, direct, and complete. This is the safest casual line for mixed guest lists.
Please reply by 10 June — it takes a minute on your phone.
Useful when you already sent the link by WhatsApp or email and only need a reminder of the date.
Can’t wait / Celebrating from afar
Fine on a very informal wedding. Still only two options. Do not add a third box for “hope to”.
How to ask guests to RSVP online
If the reply lives on the invitation, the wording’s only extra job is to point at the link. Write the URL as guests will type it. Do not say “visit our website” without showing the address.
Kindly RSVP by 10 June at thewedy.com/i/your-link
The shortest complete digital line: verb, date, place.
For full details and to confirm your attendance, please visit thewedy.com/i/your-link by 10 June.
Use this when the invitation is short and the digital page holds hotels, schedule and dress code.
Please confirm your attendance.
This is The Wedy’s default RSVP introduction. Pair it with a visible deadline on the same page so guests still see the date.
The questions that follow the wording — meals, plus-ones, allergies — are covered in wedding RSVP questions to copy. Keep this page about the sentences guests read before they tap yes or no.

QR code wording for paper invitations
A QR code is not self-explanatory on a formal card. Say what happens when someone scans it, and always print the URL underneath. Some guests will type rather than scan.
Scan to RSVP by 10 June, or visit thewedy.com/i/your-link
The most complete QR line. Date, action and fallback in one sentence.
Kindly reply by 10 June. Scan the code or type the address below.
Better for a formal suite. Keep the code at least 2.5 cm wide so a phone can read it in evening light.
Please RSVP online. A reply card is not enclosed.
Honest, but incomplete. Add the date and the URL or guests will message you to ask how.
If you are still deciding whether the first impression is paper or digital, the cost and reply-rate trade-offs are in digital vs paper wedding invitations.

Destination and bilingual wording
Destination guests need the same four facts, plus a reason to reply early. Bilingual guest lists need both languages on the invitation line, not a translation hidden in a footnote.
Please RSVP by 1 May so we can confirm hotels and transfers. thewedy.com/i/your-link
Name the reason. Travel bookings move earlier than a local Saturday lunch.
Kindly respond by 1 May / Por favor confirmad antes del 1 de mayo. thewedy.com/i/your-link
The Wedy invitations can run in two languages. Repeat the deadline in both so nobody has to guess.
Please confirm each event you will join: welcome dinner, ceremony, farewell brunch.
For a weekend wedding, the invitation line can stay short. Put the extra events as separate yes/no questions on the form.
Yes, no and plus-one lines
The invitation wording should match the form. If the card names one guest, the form should not offer a plus-one. If it says “and guest”, ask for that person’s full name.
Keep the invitation and the form in agreement
| Comparison | Invitation wording | Form wording |
|---|---|---|
| Named guest only | Ms Elena Martín | No plus-one field |
| Named couple | Elena Martín and Pablo Ruiz | Attendance for each named guest |
| Plus-one included | Elena Martín and guest | Will your invited guest be joining you? |
| Decline | We will miss you | I cannot attend |
The Wedy form uses “1 Person” and “2 People” only when plus-ones are switched on. If they are off, do not print “and guest” on the paper card.

A short set you can copy today
The complete digital RSVP, in five lines
- Invitation: Kindly RSVP by 10 June at thewedy.com/i/your-link
- QR backup: Scan the code or type the address
- Form heading: RSVP
- Form question: Will you attend?
- Answers: Yes, I will attend / I cannot attend
That is enough for most weddings. Add meal or transport questions after the yes. Do not decorate the first line until those five facts are in place.
Set the date itself from your caterer, not from a guess. When wedding RSVPs should be due walks through that timeline.
Preguntas frecuentes
What is the best wording for an online wedding RSVP?
Use one sentence with a verb, a date and a place: “Kindly RSVP by 10 June at [your link]”. On the form, ask “Will you attend?” with “Yes, I will attend” and “I cannot attend”.
How do I word a QR code RSVP on a paper invitation?
Write “Scan to RSVP by [date], or visit [URL]”. Print the address under the code. A QR code without a date or a typed URL creates extra messages.
Should formal invitations use different RSVP wording online?
Keep the invitation formal — “The favour of a reply is requested by the tenth of June” — and keep the form plain. Guests understand “Yes, I will attend” faster than period spelling on a phone.
How should I word a decline?
Give people a dignified no: “I cannot attend”, “Regretfully declines”, or “Celebrating from afar”. Do not add a maybe, and do not ask declining guests for meals.
Where does The Wedy show the RSVP wording?
The invitation can open with “Please confirm your attendance.” If you set a deadline, guests also see “Please respond before [date]”. The form buttons are “Yes, I will attend” and “I cannot attend”.
Can I change the confirm button text?
Yes. The invitation hero has a confirm-button field. The default idea is “Confirm your attendance” or “Confirm attendance”. Keep it short enough to read on a phone.
